Congratulations Heavy C! I hope you do real well at this. Trust me, you're gonna have a few days where you just wish you could crawl under a rock and hide. Just take it all in stride and keep learning from any mistakes you make. That first three months can be quite brutal at times, but there's nothing like the "school of hard knocks" to teach us the things that are really valuable in this career.
Keep those wheels turning!
Congrats Heavy C!!! Welcome to the big time!
Just take your time....take it slow. There's only one thing that matters more than anything else out there - don't hit anything. Take all of the time and space you need to do whatever you have to do to get the job done. Don't get nervous about holding people up or looking bad trying to get backed into a dock. In the end the only thing that matters is you get that truck where it's going without a scratch. If that means people have to wait a minute then that's how it goes. Those people have held up plenty of people themselves. That's how life works. They'll get over it.
Congrats Heavy C. Brett is right on again as usual. lol.... You are the one driving your truck and responsible for it. Not those other folks. I have met some very helpful and encouraging drivers and I have met some total jerks. A few I wondered as stupid as they sound how'd they ever get a license, much less a job. There have been days like Old School said, I have just wanted to crawl in the bunk and disappear. Others have been great. I'll take a balance of good though...Wishing you the best and be safe

Take your time is right, imagine rushing to back in a tight spot and scrape your trailer just to sit and wait to get loaded or unloaded. Few extra minutes to be sure is worth it (actually 15 seconds to get out and look not to long). I was blindsiding into a hotel parking lot and lost sight of my trailer and my tractor still blocking traffic I got out and looked to be sure.
Congrats, friend. Hope its me announcing this soon one day :)
Thanks guys that's exactly what I did. I took my time and made it all my stores on schedule. I didn't run into any issues minus the operational stuff that had more to do with who loaded my trailer. And don't worry Richard l (cliche time) if I can do you can do it! I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on how things continue
Never a doubt! Good luck sir!

I feel like a real truck driver finally. After one week with a trainer in the new job I completed my first day driving solo. Everything went off without a hitch. I guess in trucking an uneventful day is a good day. I'm loving being on the road by myself.
