DOT Physical, How Long Til Results?

You should have a pass or fail for the physical before you leave the office.
Yup, you'll have the results immediately. Contrary to popular belief, the urine test is not a drug test. It's to test for diabetes and other possible kidney problems. Your company will do a drug test after you are hired.
Additionally, when it comes time to renew your physical, your company may then ask the examiner to include a drug test with your physical.
You should know before you leave their office unless they have to confer with your doctor about any potentially disqualifying medical condition that you may have. For Schneider last January I received a 90-day card because my blood pressure was elevated the day I was examined. I went to see my NP and all is well.
For my CDL school they did a DOT urine drug test. Schneider does a hair follicle test.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

If the drug test is sent out for testing, 48-72 hrs. If it's done in-house, usually it's ready the next day.

Before you go “doctor shopping” in search of a valid medical certificate, you should keep in mind that physicians are required to report the results of all physical exams to the FMCSA. As of next month, these results are due within 24 hours of the exam.

They are paying the fee and specified the exam facility. Thankfully, no shopping involved.
I was directed to complete an on-line "DOT" medical history which the test facility would receive: tpaservices@compliancesafetysystems.com
Now that my personal history is "in the cloud" I am told the facility can't access that submission - feeling a bit duped. Probably not a big deal though.

BMI:
Body mass index (BMI)
BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
- Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
- Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
CLP in-hand. nbd Walked in 11:40 for 12am appointment, out by 1:50. Took a few measurements, pee, and vision test. Think they took lunch after they got me wearing some funky shorts -I'm thinking cough test, right? I heard something about ham n cheese, and now I'm getting hungry. The lady doctor then walks in and shuts door (this could get interesting). Sadly, no cough test. Blood pressure, a few mobility tests, felt around abdominal area, and I'm out. Off to DMV and now have CLP. But drug test does take couple days.

CLP:
Commercial Learner's Permit
Before getting their CDL, commercial drivers will receive their commercial learner's permit (CLP) upon passing the written portion of the CDL exam. They will not have to retake the written exam to get their CDL.
And....TT has new new driver in training, start 3/24 with Prime!
Excited and apprehensive at the same time.
Class is 500 miles away with deadline of Tuesday 5pm car rental return. Maybe this is the first test for otr trip planning? If i leave 8am will have just enough time for 2 gas stops, eat while driving, with little time for traffic jams.
Perhaps leave Monday afternoon, overnight at a Love's, become a Love's fuel member, shower for $10 in the morning. Of course would expect zero sleep at the truck stop in a car.

My appointment is scheduled Monday. When are results provided?
Was thinking to get the exam, immediately take the Long Form to DMV same day to complete and obtain my CLP. Drive to CDL school the next morning.
Now thinking that's unrealistic. Drug test may take days. Perhaps some of the screening may require off-site lab work.
