Hi Wrangler!
I could never really sleep when the truck was moving, aside from dozing off for a few minutes until it hit a bump.
I drove all night Wednesday when we set out from upstate New York at 1900. When my trainer took over in Illinois, I tried to get some shut-eye but the adrenaline was pumping because I’m back at the terminal now waiting on my own truck.
Once I’m awake in the daytime, there’s no going back to sleep for me.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
We have always prided ourselves on helping people with the truth about all aspects of this industry. Purpose and goal. However as things unfold these days alot does effect this industry and we strive to have an adult debate about certain issues. Usually it serves well, sometimes goes off the rails. We are all different, many reasons go into that. Many, many of us come from other proffessional backgrounds.
I feel you on sleeping during the day, I normally have to go so long I just finally collapse....lol
Always been early to bed early to rise kind of person, but sometimes you have no other choice but to accept odd hours.
Congratulations on your truck! I just noticed you are still in training, mine should start in a couple weeks....I am nervous, excited, and looking forward to learning something new all rolled up into one. I will try to keep a journal and share once I get officially started. I just read through some of it, when I get a little more time this evening I will try to read all of it...Thanks for sharing it.
You guys aren't getting it. First of all, I got confirmed. So the wrong zip thing is BS by them. The idea of the the 'right' zip code doesn't apply because there is no right zip code. It's a made up thing by them. You don't apply by zip code. That's the arbitrary part. No vaccines in any 'zip codes' for me. That's my point.
But I don't really see you guys thinking through the unfairness of the issue. And no I can't have your vaccine, because you don't have one. And you won't be getting one anytime soon. Do you not see all the people who are getting it that aren't you?
If you aren't interested in supporting truckers, why are you in this forum?
Pat S.,
I'm a trucker's wife, and an aspiring trucker ~ and I support individual choices regarding the vaccine. My husband's company (works w/Don at FAB,) has had & is having a clinic at their HQ in Chicago, and will pay transportation (but not lost wages) for any and all employees, interested. Ohio is kinda cool like that, as is IL, apparently!
Next, check THIS out. . . these two ladies, will help ANYONE GET A SHOT. Not needing to be in Ohio, NOR a Senior. Try this link, if you are still around!
Best wishes, as you choose, sir.

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Nothing personal, but my patience is growing a bit thin with the community here.
I come here for trucking advice, but any time I read a single opinion on any other topic, I wonder why I bother.
Unfortunately I can never tell where any given thread will stray. Anyways, my training diary is almost done and I’ve gotten what I needed. I hope my experience helps many more to come just like I have.
Do you belong to any other groups that have forums? I belong to Dairy goat groups, other Trucking groups, goat milk soap making groups and they all have forums. While most break down their forums into different sections or topics, they all have a General/Anything Goes section. This group doesn't break it up into more sections, and some of my other groups don't either.
Most people that come into a group do have specific questions they want answered, but if they hang around, they get into chatting about their life and other topics and they make friends...some of them are lifelong friends. You have posted personal info that has me curious and I have a question for you...why did you leave the medical field that you started doing?

I agree with you Scott....the china virus has less than 1% chance of fatality and the shot has well over 65%
528 million people have been vaccinated so far which means well over 343 million people are now dead.
I got the first Pfizer shot last week. Even if my immune system could most likely protect my body from becoming too sick, I'd like to prevent being able to transmit the virus to someone whose immune system couldn't protect them. Each time the virus enters a new host is also a new chance for it to mutate into a more deadly form.

Except if you look at the research it doesn't do any of that. All the studies I've seen is that it just reduces the severity if you do end up getting it.
I knew DanielB's background and im glad to hear his take on how things are going because as a student of history I see the same thing happening.
And Eugene I'm all for it if that's what you choose to do. That's all I've been saying from the beginning is to give people the choice. The evidence undeniably points to the fact that healthy individuals with no metabolic issues aren't dieing from this. Does that mean we shouldn't care about the ones that are? No we should be working on helping them get healthy, but you can't help the people who don't want to be helped. But then you have states like NY that are rolling out vaccine passport programs. Just something to think about. Truckers are a diverse group of people, anytime there's something to have an opinion on you can ask 10 drivers and get 15 opinions. But that's all they are, and yes we do our level best to educate here, but there's still disagreements. Look at the questions about owner ops and lease ops.

The studies that are starting to come in are showing a 60% to 80% to 90% decrease in asymptomatic infections in people who are vaccinated, and a clear reduction in viral load in the smaller amount of vaccinated people who do develop a symptomatic infection. The logic and the odds are the vaccine lessens the chances of transmission.

Speaking of unavailability to drivers... I have my first dose scheduled this coming Thursday, and the second on April 22nd. (The irony of getting my first dose on April Fool's Day is not missed.)
Unfortunately, because I'm a truck driver, I had to run over three innocent civilians to get a slot... oh, wait, nope, I just kept refreshing a website every few days and making sure all of my information was entered correctly. :)

Eugene, How long have you been driving? 36 hours awake is a long time to go without sleeping. I probably couldn't do that...the longest shift i have ever pulled was 27 hours in one shift but that also included about 40 straight 10 to 12 hours day without a day off...longest stretch I have ever pulled was 56 days straight no time off other than sleep and shower...
