Decided to go with Roehl. Got my DOT health card and CDL permit. Not sure if my recruiter understands past a certain point. It was only a 6th month card due to BMI. Recruiter says there is no new dot health exam or physical exam during the whole process. Safety will contact me close to the expiration to make sure I'm ready. Is that correct? anyone know or have experience with Roehl?
Not experienced with Roehl but most companies will contact you prior to expiration telling you or sending you in to renew it. It would be great for you to make note of its expiration date and take care of it if they forget.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Larry...Roehl typically sends your to their preferred doctor for the physical. Bus this what happened here.
They use a third person association to review physicals and advise their safety department. If this is what was done then you should be all set.
As others have said, they are probably giving you the 6 months for the sleep study. I have mild sleep apnea and adjusted quickly to the machine. I now actually miss it when I skip a night of use.
Good luck. I got my license through Roehl in 2014. Great people and a great company.

A physical disorder in which you have pauses in your breathing, or take shallow breaths, during sleep. These pauses can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Normal breathing will usually resume, sometimes with a loud choking sound or snort.
In obstructive sleep apnea, your airways become blocked or collapse during sleep, causing the pauses and shallow breathing.
It is a chronic condition that will require ongoing management. It affects about 18 million people in the U.S.

Hay Tim;
I FORGOT you started with Roehl, actually!! Perhaps you could look at Andrey's circumstance in the diary section; and weigh in? I didn't know what had happened to him (Andrey) before I mentioned him here in this thread.
Thanks!

I finished my Phase I training in Marshfield about a month ago. Great company, great training in Phase I. Unfortunately in Phase II my OTR trainer and I weren’t a very good fit so I got off his truck in St. Louis and drove home to Ohio. Talked to Roehl today and we’re looking at getting me with a new trainer in early April so I can get through Phase II and on to solo.
All in all? I think Roehl is a great pick. Good luck and hope to see some posts soon!
