Hello all,

Just wanted to give another update on my interesting week.... The night I was assigned my truck, I got sent up to a TA to grab a load from a driver who was broken down, and when I did my pre-trip, I noticed that the only lights working on the trailer were the hazards, so I notified my FM that I would need breakdown for the trailer, and got into the shop the next morning and they fixed the electrical gremlins....lol.... so the weekend FM had me bring the load to the terminal so another driver could grab it and get it to the receiver.... Got to the terminal and my tractors air tank lost all air pressure, so I sent in another breakdown request, while I was still attached to the load. They got there around 1130pm, and realized it was the cartridge for the air tanks, and would have to get the part from the part store and come back out in the morning.... They got back around 5 pm with a used cartridge to get me rolling again and to a full service terminal.... So when they were finished, I sent in my repairs complete message, and they assigned me the same load I was attached to, delivering Monday with no appointment time, and they asked me for an updated ETA... So I called and asked if they were open on weekends, and they of course are not, so I started out this morning to get close so I could get in early and deliver. So I finally got to a truck stop about an hour and a half or so away, so I could leave around 7am and deliver.....

Chris

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Its great to follow you along your adventure, Chris...keep it coming. Honestly, for me, since I have had to retire, following you guys out on the road is the best form of entertainment that I can think of..So thank you to all of the drivers, trainees, rookies, experienced, and any other kind of driver who is out there, and tellin' about it in here....cuz I may not comment on them all...but I read em all...and I dream my way thru them all....
