With the truck off put into 3rd/8th (assuming it is patterned like that) place your palm flat on the shifter with index finger extended. Looks to see what your index finger is lined up with such as fan or temp control knobs, then when down shifting place your palm down and index finger out and line it up to that spot.
Hello all, I'm in class and the last issue I need to iron out before testing is downshifting to 8th gear from 9th. The soft wall is so subtle that it's difficult for me to tell when I've crossed it. Today I tried shifting slowly to let the stick reset so I could push it straight back into 8, but still wound up in 10th.
Any tips and tricks on how to find 8th atet appreciated.
Trannys are different. You just have to bump up your revs to match the gear when you slow down. Try a grand, then 1200, etc. You'll find the sweetspot for that truck eventually.
