Hey guys, so I'm taking your guys course right now. Since, I'm taking only my permit, should I just focus on the permit portion, or should I go with the whole training? Thanks!

Hi Harry,

I recently did all the permit sections and had no issue passing the permit test first time. Great training material.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Does the course cover airbreaks, and combinations too? I have to take 3 seperate tests right, or is it included in the permit? Thanks.

The only additional testing you will do is for endorsements. That is your choice. Your permit test covers combination vehicles and air brakes. The High Road CDL Training Program will have you over prepared. Take your time and work through it. There is a lot of repetition and it is designed to quiz you more heavily on the areas where you show weakness. We have had a ton of great responses to this course. It is well designed and easy to come and go back to when you have the time.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Combination Vehicle:

A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.

Old School has it right. But just so you'll know what to expect, the General Knowledge test is 50 questions, covering all the "permit" questions except Air Brake and Combination Vehicles. Those are their own tasts (20 q. each). Three tests.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
