Dawson, that's a great question!
If things are going well and you like your trainer, you've got good solid reasons to stay with them. You could do far worse. To be honest with you, it's highly probable you may be very dissatisfied with your next trainer. I would by all means stick with someone you are content to work with. Training is long and tough, especially for you guys at Prime. If things are going well, I'd definitely stick with the one you liked.
Remember that you will not learn everything you need to know during training. You will learn a great deal more once you are in your own truck. Hang in there and don't worry about getting another perspective. You will have plenty of time to gain your own perspectives when you are solo.
If you get along well with the PSD trainer, and think he his doing a good job at training, then you'd be smart to stick right with him.
One could argue that a different perspective may perhaps help some, but the TNT phase is largely only about learning company and delivery procedures anyway. So the benefit of a different perspective is negligible.
I'd surely stick with the same guy if you are compatible. Rolling the dice with a new trainer is risky.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.
Thanks Turtle and Old School. I will stick with this trainer.

If you want a different perspective... Ask me 😂 glad all is well.
From a trainer stand point... It is awesome to no TNT with the same student because he knows what you have learned and havent and he can jump you guys right into teaming amd know your are a safe driver.
I would stick with him. Good luck

First, thanks to Brett and everyone else for all of the invaluable information and advice on getting into this industry. I've finally jumped in and am in my first week of PSD training with Prime in the reefer division. Things are going great with my trainer and the training has gone well. My trainer has indicated he can keep me through the TNT phase, but also indicates he would understand if I wanted to gain a different perspective. I can see value in getting additional input and a different trainer during tnt but am leaning towards not rolling the dice and sticking with my current trainer. Would it be a mistake to go this route if available? Thanks
