Unfortunately, I do not know specific details. I do know they have day cabs. The Marietta, Ga terminal has a few that they run. I also noticed the day cabs on the interstate when I was in the PA area. I think they typically run loads to and from the distribution centers and warehouses. Mainly back and forth from the terminal. Sometimes it is loads brought to the terminal by the OTR fleet. Also if your OTR truck is going to be in the shop for a while they will let you run day cab loads. I would definitely ask the recruiter for more details. I would be willing to bet they have had a lot of dedicated day cab home daily positions open up. They shut the New Kingstown terminal down for a month to get prepared for them.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.
Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).
I asked Crete a while ago before I went to US Xpress local account. She said those home daily positions are almost exclusively reserved for current drivers, they very rarely hire from outside for those because current drivers want those positions so much. I know I've seen Crete day cabs running on 476 from Clark's Summit down to Allentown area, pulling intermodal containers.
Doesn't hurt to ask if they will hire you into those positions. But it is nice to know they exist so that when you have 6-12 months with Crete you can get put on the "list" to get one of those home daily jobs soon as you can.

Transporting freight using two or more transportation modes. An example would be freight that is moved by truck from the shipper's dock to the rail yard, then placed on a train to the next rail yard, and finally returned to a truck for delivery to the receiving customer.
In trucking when you hear someone refer to an intermodal job they're normally talking about hauling shipping containers to and from the shipyards and railyards.
THanks for the info fellas!

Not sure why this surprised me, besides the fact that I've never seen these before. Being close to a Crete / Shaffer terminal for many years and seeing their trucks on the local roads, I've never seen a day cab till today. I took my daughter on a trip to the terminal to look at the trucks and we saw them in the parking lot. Red and blue day cabs. Interestingly enough, I searched the jobs on Crete's website yesterday, and openings came up in PA for home daily. Not for Shaffer though. I've known that they've had home weekly options for both Crete and Shaffer out of the New Kingstown terminal, wonder if daily home time? Think I'll call the recruiter on Monday. What say you, Anchorman?
