Any updates Bruce?

Yes! I passed my backing and did quite well with 9 backs and every one went in the hole. Not all were perfect; honestly none were, but I got them all done without any violations.

Turtles advice was right on the money, so thank you for that.

I get my truck Thursday morning and go solo right away. Thanks for all the help.

Just found out that my assigned truck is a Frightliner 2019. It has an Eaton inverter, an APU and a refrigerator. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

And thank you to everyone who gave me help and encouragement about my backing issue. The Trucking Truth community is a great family to me and many others, (because I was born in a basement and never brought up, lol) .

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
