Thanks, Anne for the kind words.
So did you get your truck today Bruce! Gotta see some pictures man!
I passed the backing and got my sweet gently used new truck. Went out solo again on Friday Sept 30 and drove out my clock. Parked at Love’s to due my 10. Not many spaces left so I had to do the 45 degree backup to get in between 2 other trucks. Did it with two GOALS and only one pull up. When I got to the receiver today I had to do another 45 degree. Same thing, two GOALS and one pull-up. Backing is so much easier when no one is watching. 😀
Got to my second assignment today but was getting short on driving time and no overnight parking is allowed, so I found a good place to park. The receiver is 24-7, so I’ll do the drop and hook early tomorrow.
Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.
In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Hey Bird. I still need to re-learn how to post pictures . But my truck is gray and is identical to thousands of Frightliner’s that carry the Schneider logo.
Congrats Bruce! Sounds like you've found your groove!!

I've been quiet, sorry . . . but I had to tell ya.. you're the ONLY person I've ever heard USE that phrase, besides 'my' guy!! (The basement, of course, haha!)
Best wishes from us BOTH !!

APU:
Auxiliary Power Unit
On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.
Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.
