Yes. Felony conviction from 2006 and not stable enough work history resulted in being declined.

I give no recommendations for any company but for those worried about tickets and accidents, I just pulled this off Western Expresses website they sent me.

It was 2005 when I worked for Stevens, they were not that strict at the time. I had some issues on my record at the time and job hopping. They did grill me about during orientation, I thought I was going home. And the guy kept asking me "When is the last time you smoked a joint? At least 5 times in a 30 min interview.

Well, they eliminated me during phone interview. On to the next company. Plenty of other companies are giving me consideration and currently working through my application.

May Trucking Company is willing to bring me in for orientation, but they said I might want to consider a refresher course because I will be expected to perform a skills test and a drive test before being able to go out with a trainer.

Pride Transport is currently pulling my various reports and I should be hearing back from them in the next day or so.

I have a phone interview scheduled with Witte Bros on Friday.

Western Dairy Transport said that they are willing to work through my application once I have my tanker endorsement. I have an appointment at Texas DL office for this Saturday to upgrade my license with tanker and doubles/triples.

I still have a few other companies to contact regarding my application, so things are going well so far.

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Best wishes, Kerry!

Welcome back 'stateside,' also !!! I'm excited to follow your journey; hoping that a few of the 'leads/names' help(ed) a bit!!

Keep us in the loop! I've been putting PT for my torn Rotator Cuff on the back burner, until ... 'late . . . ' so.... I don't get on here as much; working from home as well. At least I don't have to 'stand up' to type on the keyboard, haha! (Yes, as mentioned, I sure did.. for a skoshe... or more?) :(

I'm happy for ya, man!

Thank you, Anne. Here's to hoping that your shoulder is good enough to clean and jerk soon. ;)

....As I fell into your melting pot, haha! Dang ya, Kerry!

Got a REALLY great book .. that's helping me tons; healing my impingement . . . myself:

Built From Broken.

And THIS, on YouTube . . . recommended by a hiker;

Athlean X ~ Putting the Science, Back in Strength.

I only got the book last month; it came out in June; paperback and Kindle. Sadly, no podcast.

I also 'found' the website this week, (THANKS!!!!) but WOW.... I'm so MUCH MORE uphill now. . . FINALLY!

DISCLOSURE: I'm not an endorser nor agent for either, but .. us 'olders' get wounded on & off the truck, and . . . this is all my "go to." Just got done with water therapy earlier, and have a plan for tomorrow.

My 36 y/o nephew is a body builder / power lifter . . . and he's borrowed the book, and I gave him the link for the Y/T. Seriously; good stuff for those of us that prefer less medical intervention, and rather heal, naturally...as much as possible. I'm on a mission, y'all ~!!

Stay well, stay healthy, guys & gals.

~ Anne ~

ps: Hay, Ms. Laura .. check it out! (IDMtnGal !)

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

That's some good stuff there. You are going to be coming back with a vengeance. Keep your mind strong and your body will follow.
