I haven’t driven since Dec 5. Just a crazy series of breakdowns, medical appointments, dentist appointments and holiday delays.

Good news is that I got my 3 month card upgraded to a 1 year card. Bad news is that the company hasn’t got me into another truck. The 2019 Frightliner had 4 breakdowns in 5 weeks, but two of those breakdowns kept me in a motel room for two weeks total. Then I got assigned another truck. Moved out of the 2019 into a 2018, and then I never even got out of the yard. Electrical/charging system problem. So I had to move my stuff from that truck into a rental van and go to my home base. (I hate moving in and out of trucks).

Now I sit here with no truck and because of the holidays I won’t get one until next week.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Congratulations on your med card!

That's one nice thing about LTL if you have a problem with one truck just grab another in the yard.

Do you get paid for sitting?

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

Got 65 per day breakdown pay. That only applied to 13 days. Otherwise, no pay. Gotta look into McDonalds job opportunities

I'd be demanding a new truck Monday. A month off the road for breakdowns with a company as huge as Schneider would be unacceptable to me.

I'll stick to trucking on here. Music, movies, clowns, and tall tales belong on other sites.

Wow! You’re within driving distance of the Mother Ship, Gary , IN OC, Indianapolis OC and NO available trucks?

I’m amazed they can’t have you ride with someone else, to pick up a truck in any of the Indiana, Wisconsin or Ohio Operating Centers.

Sorry to hear this, but glad the medical card is upgraded.
