Interesting, id never in a million years even consider getting paid for the commute into work. Guess I just don't have the entitlement mind to think that way. I park my truck at the nearest terminal usually. If it's just a reset, they calculate the trip from the location of my truck when I start in again after the reset.
Maybe I'm missing something, but it's a work truck, not my personal vehicle. My urge is to say "shut up and do your job". But I'll refrain from it. Hell, I figure I'm happy making money and trucking along in life.
Interesting, I guess since my 1000s of other fellow Schneider drivers are getting paid to do exactly what I was not getting paid to do I should just shut the hell up? Yeah right man.
Millennials in the work place. The company is under no obligation to let you take their assets home and back, much less pay you for it. The fact that they do is a bonus. Loose the entitlement mind and humbly ask if you can get it resolved.
Yeah, do your job without complaining, address issues with a humble open mind, take advantage of offers the company gives you with an air of gratitude and humility. Work hard, safe and realize that you are at the bottom and need to pay your dues. It's called having a work ethic.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Just curious big orange what other forums are you referring too? The only forums I’m aware of are trucking truth and truckers report. And we certainly aren’t trashing Schneider here. Can you provide one proof of one example of where a driver said he fell victim to In your words Schneider’s bad business practices?
I find it hard to believe a trucking company would manage to stay in business for 46 years running on bad business practices. Consider yourself lucky, they didn’t have to hire you, train you, pay for your CDL , pay you to drive their equipment or pay your insurance. They choose to do that, just as they choose to provide the opportunities to others to enjoy their livelihood. I’m glad you’re getting it worked out because it probably was an honest mistake. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to see what goes on behind the scenes, it’ll boggle your mind just how busy it gets in those offices. Making judgement about a company you truly know nothing about isn’t going to garner you many fans on here though.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

If you were told you would be paid for the commute and you weren't, just call your DM and get it straightened out. It's probably not even a big deal. Communication is key in this biz, they can't help you resolve an issue they don't know about.
I don't see any breaching here. The company pays drivers to move freight, not their own bodies.
LOL. 3 months in, and is an expert on Schneider's business practices. You state you told your DM where you want your home base to be. 3 months later, and you are now just realizing that didn't happen? Your follow up communication should have followed the first paycheck you noticed you were not getting paid what you state you are supposed to be. That should have been two weeks, maybe three. You didn't take responsibility to follow up and ensure that was done, and after 3 months of **** poor communication on your behalf, you want to blame someone else or the Company. GTHOH with your nonsense. Dealing with irresponsible people who feel entitled is a pain in the butt. I wish my Company would let me use my tractor to commute back and forth to work, burning their diesel AND paying ME forvthe privilege to do so.
Baby Orange knows...
Big orange isnt exactly known for their good business practices, you dont have to go far on any forum to find an example of that.Just wow.
How so? 3 months and you’re an expert on Schneider’s business practices? Impressive.
The information on most every forum is not vetted. Usually written by disgruntled, former employees that for a variety of reasons failed, blaming their company. Not worth the effort to read it. Schneider is not a bad company. So please stop now with quoting hearsay and posting false information.
Seemingly you continue seeking advice, yet the information we have provided isn’t what you want to hear. Try to work it out with them...and I suggest conducting yourself professionally and with humility. The contract you speak of; read it before accusing them of a breach.
You approach them with the attitude of; “I’m gonna show them” and they will quickly show you... the door.
Thats why i put my name as baby orange lol. Right on man.
I don’t get why you would even mention “breach of contract.” Usually when someone isn’t happy with the way things are going with their company, and they bring up those three words, they’re angling for a way out. Is that what’s really going on here? You’ve clearly been on other websites digging up “information” on Schneider, so it’s not a leap to surmise that you’ve been talking to people as well, and have been convinced that there is greener grass elsewhere. You’re looking for confirmation that you’ve found the golden ticket out of your contract, can put the screws to Schneider, and walk away from your commitment. Hence your reluctance to resolve this through company channels and seek advice from the Internet instead. Having worked for Schneider for almost 5 years, I assure you they have policies and procedures that cover this. If you cannot resolve this with your DBL, contact human resources. You have the number.
