Sorry to hear that Bruce. I’ve got type 1 so I can’t offer much advice for type 2. Low carb is your friend. Glad you’re all right, my glucose was over 600 also when I was diagnosed.

One of the symptoms of high blood sugar is blurred vision. Everyone here knows how serious that is when driving. I experienced that and I’m very thankful that I was able to shut down before anything bad happened. Drive healthy, drive safe.

I forgot to respond to this. If my blood sugar is high a lot for a few days I start to notice it but as long as you get your blood sugar down and keep it down the blurred vision will go away quickly on its own. As long as you keep your blood sugar in range you will experience minimal complications if any

Wow. That is extremely high. Have you had your eyes checked yet? Retinopathy is an issue at that level.

Definitely be diligent with meds, low carb diet, nothing white (flour, sugar, pasta, etc), as little refined food as possible.

I was able to weigh myself today, as I got home earlier than expected. Hit the road Monday morning, this morning I have lost at least 7 pounds, maybe 10. I can’t remember exactly what I weighed before I left. Just using the Full Plate Living principles.

My blood sugar number was 600 when I first got to the hospital.

My experience has taught me a few things.

To you younger drivers, stay healthy, stay safe. Start to educate yourself early on. Listen to the experienced drivers who have made lifestyle and dietary changes and improved their health.

Monitor your health with regular check up’s and blood tests.

My mantra going forward is “Be healthy, be safe”.
