Now that makes a difference Packrat.
I'll have to take a close look at Colorado. See which out-of-state carriers would send me there for training. Montana is likely to work as well; as Montana requires you to get theirs and then transfer it.
I do wish every state could just "hand it over" to the FMCSA and call it good. Would make things a lot easier.
I got mine in NOV 2015.
The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
Quick Update for WA prospective CDL students finding this later.
Swift is now listed as an approved school on WA's website. So far they are the only approved carrier on their register.
It seems that the powers-that-be changed their mind and they are updating it after all. Good news for everyone. I also see several out-of-state private schools that never were there before. Let's hope before long many carriers are added, and that WA comes to their senses and just follows FMCSA guidelines.

Thanks for the update, Lil'Red!
I'll be sure to bookmark that; valuable information, in case anyone in the future asks.
Anything new with you? Are you going with Swift, then? Keep us in the loop, for sure.
Good to see ya back!

It is such a mess Anne, I just spoke to WA DOL again this morning, as their regs are changing fast now. Per them, too fast for them even to keep track of, so they have handed it off to the WA office of the FMCSA , which when you call them--sends you back to DOL, LOL. The CDL division then tells you that due to the enormous volume of the change, you have to e-mail them. :)
If they don't add Prime and fast, they are idiots. Plenty other schools from around the nation listed now that surely won't be nearly as good.
Anyway, just got off the phone with Nikki at Prime, she says the supervisors there still says private school.
It may be Swift, as their school is approved. But if I can swing it at all--it's Prime for sure. Jury will be out for a bit as I go through the process with those two companies.

Perhaps that would help Ms. Anne; that is IF these new laws are handed down by the feds and the states do not have latitude to enforce their own requirements. Per the DOL (DMV) officials I have spoken to, WA state will not cede their own, more stringent laws, but intend to enforce them in addition to FMCSA's ELDT requirements coming active on the 7th.
If the feds make them though, they will have no choice.
Not sure how happy I am about fed enforcement to this degree, but that is another discussion.
As for the other 49 states, to my knowledge none of them will have this issue, as Illinois was the last one to change their law and just go with the FMCSA regulations.
It's fine though, just annoying.
