I hope everyone made it through the storm safely. I was following the forecast all week. From Dallas to Maine was a mess. I saw every interstate in, out, and around Cincinnati was closed.

It’s just been raining and windy for two days straight in GA

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

I have 120 hours of vacation as well. To my understanding (per Jim B), we cannot take a couple days of vacation; we have to take it in 40 hour blocks. I have not had a vacation in over a year, and it's just about time to do so.

I've been going to the rail yard. It looks like the freight that can't get to Indiana/Chicago is traveling by rail. I'm expecting to get a phone call tomorrow morning.

Yep, here too. We just got the official 'nope' for today; my plow guy is stopping by to see what (if anything) we can do to clear the yard with the rig in the way....so he can get out tomorrow.

120 hours....geez Louise, I struggle to save 40 for my actual vacation lol.... Earn and burn over here smile.gif

LoLoL ! We're 'old...' tend to 'save' for emergencies, haha!!

Yeah, true..true. Then again, he made an exception for Tom when he 'had Covid(not)' late September/Early October...but Tom went ahead and took a full week. Still has the 120...might just take a full week, or 'do without.' Don't know yet. Greg is begging him to work tomorrow, if there 'IS' any work tomorrow, LoL !! (LET US KNOW, any intel, haha!)

Still winging it. As is MOST of Ohio, right? Seriously; as that usually 'is' the policy (40 hour chunks) ... Jim B. is known to make an 'exception' as of late. So, there's that! We shall play by ear!

Stay warm & safe, Don!

I made it through the beginning of the mess wednesday at 1am then got a load to Pennsylvania that was supposed to deliver today at a farm in the middle of nowhere. That got pulled thursday morning because that would have been impossible. So I got switched to a load going to atlanta that can drop whenever I can get there. Ended up stuck in Wisconsin until 8am today waiting on our company to lift the illinois shutdown. Coming down I57 today looked like a zombie apocalypse with all the vehicles in ditches from Champaign to Mt Vernon.

Dang, good sir! PA, hahahahaha~ That was a nope, yeah? Sheesh. I'd rather go to 'HotLanta' than deal with THIS, here!

IDMtnGal's (Ms. Laura's) pix in Postcards thread... same thing!

Omiwow, y'all. Tom's 'main' company is in Lemont, and .. no news of a 'lift' yet.... as we know. Sheesh.

Be safe, y'all. Go look at Ms. Laura's 'apocalyptic' pix!

ps: MANY deep farm roads here in Ohio, ARE BARRICADED... level 3 in Richland for the 1st time in 18 years..so they say.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Lol well, from Ranger Tx. to my delivery in Grand Prairie Tx, I saw the remnants of all the wrecks that happened since the south got hit with that storm couple days ago !! OMG, saw 1 old trailer (werners maybe) was krinkled in center of itself like an accordian, truck wasnt there. Multiple cars and pick ups in ditch between West/East Bnd. I-20, worse seen 4 parked on shoulder under a cross over bridge.

All I could see was 1st trailer got clipped, tore up corner and bad enough to remove 2 left tires! looked like he smashed into another set, 4 in total clumped together. At least werent blocking the lane.....Had to be 2 dozen twisted metal n fiberglass messes....

No empties at delivery so camped outside their yard waiting til morning for dispatch find me 1 to head to Durant OK, for a dang Big Lots load to Apache Junction, Ariz. store delivery, least it gets me back to west coast hahaha

I assume you guys are talking about paid vacation, so if there is a need to leave for 2-3 months, big companies don't have a problem with that?

I'm not real sure about our company, to be honest! Tom could take his 3 weeks at once, I do believe, though. How about at OD, Bobcat Bob ?

Hay Don . . . end up working today? Haven't heard from Greg (yet ?!?) .... here.

I think it's 2 weeks unless you leave the country. But don't hold me to that

Good on YOU, though!! Tom even offered up to corporate / dispatch that said they NEEDED HIM today.. Yeah, nope!

Good run tho, Don! Can you do 2 in a day, or just the one? Man.. this Ohio storm is heading THATAWAY... Hmm... I wonder, what'll become, Monday?

Guessing Tom will be running out of Wooster... (AND DANG if I can only get him to SAY. IT. RIGHT! .... AUUGH!) Monday! Greg never DID reply nor raise us/him up on the QC nor cell phone today. All stalled.

Oh well !!

Re: the vacay... hmm... let's see if/what they offer for the 2 days non profit, haha! We shall play that card.. as needed.

Ya know, I think I remember reading something within the walls of Tom & Don's place, that 2 weeks is MAX. Don't know about an 'out of country' clause, tho!

Hopefully Y'ALL can get back to 'business as usual' after the Glory Day tomorrow! I'm sure READY for MY DRIVER ... um... to .....DRIVE !! (Was thinking about the 6,6,19 ... but.. yeah, I'll be nice! ) If you get it, ya get it. Teenager(s) teach me a LOT, haha!

Best to y'all!!!

Thanks for the intel, all. Esp., Don. Might have had Tom TRY to run...to a closed I/P, haha! Never know!
