It’s always a total PITA. One thing I do to make it go faster is throw all the little things in trash bags. I keep 4 gallon trash bags on the truck so I use them for things like gps, cords, utensils, food, etc. Then just unpack the trash bags when I get in the new truck. I also park the trucks side by side facing opposite directions so close they’re almost touching and just walk between them without having to climb up and down. Saves a lot of time.

It takes me 3 minutes smile.gif

Lol, it's nice not having to carry your house on your back.

We just switched trucks last week and I gotta say I'm in Andrey's camp on this, it took about an hour. but maybe that's just cause we're running teams, there are a few more things I'd bring out here if I was running solo, I dunno.

The difficulty factor involved with changing trucks depends on several factors. Team or solo? Two people working together makes the task much easier. I run solo, but next time I move into or out of a truck I will try to hire someone else to help me. If I were a young buck it would be different but in my old age I’ve become much more willing to admit that I need help on occasions. Also, how much stuff do you carry with you? If a driver lives in the truck there will probably be quite a bit of stuff to move. Day cab driver, not so much. Weather? Very hot, very cold = no fun, get someone to assist. Glutton for punishment? Do it alone. Lol.

Day Cab:

A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
