Glad you are ready to go again, Bruce!!!
Best wishes, man!!!!

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
A tractor which does not have a sleeper berth attached to it. Normally used for local routes where drivers go home every night.
Every RTI truck I see is a lease.
Why only those three?
Marten does have fleets other than refer but I don't know what percentage. Michael usually picks up a trailer in a Stockton yard where there are a lot of day cab drivers.
Michael usually hauls refrigerated product but sometimes hauls other items such as flooring, craft goods, etc.
I know that reefer loads can tend to get unloaded more slowly but some of his loads are drop and hook. Most of his unloadings aren't too bad but he had one about two weeks ago that took 7 hours. He went to the sleeper and slept. He got paid $225 detention for sleeping and it worked out okay with his next load's schedule.
Michael's last team driver at CRE is good friends with Michael and started orientation with Marten back east somewhere today.

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.
In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Those three check off the boxes I’m looking for. It gets confusing for me to consider more. Do you have a recommendation? I value your input.
And Anne, thanks for the suggestions. Can’t do day cabs because: 1) it would cause PackRat to be disappointed in me. 2) I need to live in my truck. It’s a little tight in a day cab. Lol

So, I’m medically cleared to go back to OTR now. Very anxious to get going again. I’ve had the luxury of time to do research and I’ve narrowed down my choices to a few companies. Strangely, they are all reefer outfits. My top choice at this point is JS Helwig out of Texas. Then there is Marten and RTI, Riverside Transport Inc.
Any comments on Helwig or RTI? I already know a lot about Marten thanks to Harvey & Son, and they are still on my short list.
