The deeper into this recession we get, the worse rates will get. The ones who survive will be those in areas of trucking which are a little more protected in a recession and those who own their equipment which at least helps offset some of the fixed costs.

It's very simple. Diesel has gone up, Rates have gone down. There is still a lot of work available it just isn't paying well. I'm an owner-operator and at least for my business I have reduced the amount of days i run a week. Gonna be a bloodbath for owner ops who have large truck payments soon.
