I had a replacement done at the end of October. I took 8 weeks off. I probably could have gone back in 6 if I really wanted to, but we were closing in on the Holidays so I decided to take a couple extra weeks. Getting in and out of the truck and into and under the trailer are all much easier now. You’ll have a follow up with your doctor at about 6 weeks and will discuss a return to work at that point. Make sure you do the PT rehab stuff at home. I also suggest starting “prehab” (doing the rehab exercises before surgery) as early as you can. It made my rehab much easier.

I'm still in P/T for my torn rotator cuff, W'Bill. Not opting for surgery for now...(or ever?) LoL..

How are things working out for you, good sir?

Hi Anne, thanks for asking. Still hobbling around but getting the job done. I’ve got one more week to go and then 2 weeks medical time off to get treatment. First thing will be pain management treatment. Then I will see an Orthopedist who only does knees to see if I can get a procedure that doesn’t involve total knee replacement because I certainly don’t want to be off work that long.

I thought about you at PT the other day; why I raised this up. I'm not sure how much longer I've got myself, but my last MRI showed improvement of 15% .. so, there's that.

It's an ongoing, BK. My D.O. is also my PT .. Dr. Amy; and gawsh I love her. This RC is taking ME for a ride, too.

I'm feigning off surgery for as long as I can, which may be FOREVER by choice. I'll get it. I do PT at home, too...as recommended, and as I can. Sure can't pass the Fed Med yet; struggling with a 3pt. contact getting in & out of Tom's truck! Nobody at the test center is gonna give me a 'butt shove' going in, and a 'lady' hand down, coming out.

I sure hope you'll keep us (me!) updated, as to how things go, BK. I'll do the same. I really thought I'd be IN a truck by now. I'm almost afraid to do too many 'ride alongs' lest I wear it wrong.

I'm wondering if your orthopod (Dr's.) procedure is something you'd share with me, ex post facto? I'm grasping at straws myself, and banging my head many days, myself. At least you are DRIVING, good sir!

I've also found an amazing book on Amazon, recommended by my D.O. / PT ...Built from Broken

And, if you ever do YouTube: Athlean X on YT. Brett actually follows him, to stay fit for hiking, and deal with any happenstance injuries. How do I know? He's mentioned him on here before; I can't find it! This guy is NOT just for power lifters, but the community of the 'injured' as a whole. He's in his 60's!

Well, good sir. . . let me know; keep me in the loop; as will I.

Best always,

~ Anne ~

I am a HUGE proponent of the cryo-therapy packs. (I recommend the DonJoy IceMan Clear3 unit)

I have metal plates, screws, and wires in both ankles. I was off opiate pain meds in two days for daylight, (still dosed at night) and fully off by day 6 onto just Advil and Tylenol.

Workman's comp is one of the very few insurance situations that allow these units, but they are worth their weight in gold. I have used mine on both ankles, and my knee, so I'm pretty much sold on their use. I would freeze water bottles, and drop those into the tank. It didn't get as cold as cubes, but lasted far longer.

I'm a huge fan of that kind of therapy! Also a fan of 40 mg of kenalog and marcaine
