I leave Saturday for orientation and I have trying to figure out what to carry my wallet and things in. I am not sure if I should carry my pocket book or retire it to something else. Can you ladies tell me what you carry your things in. Thanks Brinda

Since the most important thing you will need when you drive truck is your CDL ,med card, and $$$$ I tossed my purse, and bought a fold wallet, to carry in my pants pocket....That way, you don't have a purse to leave anywhere, to get stole....BUT, if you carry a wallet, while you drive, put it in a cubby, or door pocket.....If you leave it in your back pocket, it will give you the worst sciatic nerve pinch in the world !!! Guys don't realize this...silly men....my husband had driven for 25 years...he had a big old chain drive truckers wallet in his pants all the time...and he limped ALL the time, from "his back" as he put it....I finally convinced him to pull the wallet for a few days...I must be a healer, cuz his back healed right up !!! But I like all my important stuff ON ME...any one who wants my $$ will have to get up close and personal to get it...and that is a very bad idea with me....I protect my "air space".....

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I use a hand held wallet. A purse is just too much. Mines to big to go in my pocket though.

I use a wallet and when I go in anywhere I stick it as far down in my pocket as I can, as close to skin as I can. I have never used a purse though. I have a tendency to put things down and forget where I put them. I did it a couple of weeks ago with a toll ticket. I was going nuts when I got to the toll booth. I would have only had to pay 3.60 if I had been able to find my toll ticket. Without, almost 80 dollars. Thank the heavens a nice toll officer walked over and I showed her my TA truckstop coffee, still scalding hot and the receipt for it.
