Soooo….. I did not get to drive until last night! Manager said multiple people had to approve and sign off on whatever out in Arkansas before they could put me on the board, corporate red tape stuff.

Last night was my 1st run. They had another driver show me how to do my paperwork and enter the paperwork info into an app on the device as well as set up my info in the Samsara app for HOS. I was assigned a 53 with 36,000+. I then followed him to one of our best customers to get the run down on how our drop n hooks work there. He left his empty, grabbed a full. After that we both headed to the main terminal in Carlisle, PA. There he showed me the check in and time stamp process in the office, we scooped up our trailers from the yard and headed back. It was pouring rain yesterday, other then the weather conditions and visibility being terrible, my 1st run went pretty smooth.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I've driven past that terminal a bunch of times passing through that area.

Sounds like a good first run, you didn't hit anything and your dispatcher didn't look confused as to why you need a hotel for a simple run lol

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
