Well it's certainly more difficult and dangerous to do a blind-side back but there will be times there is no choice whatsoever.

It might just be my imagination, but I could swear I saw or read about remote control mirrors that adjusted out enough to allow the driver to see the trailer in the passenger mirror while doing the "blind side" back-up tango . . . now I don't drink or smoke dope so that's not where I got this impression . . . Is there such a thing or am I gonna get rich creating them? (I thought of it first!!)

The 2014 freightliner seems to have mirrors that go as far as I have needed them. I love my remote control mirrors! Had a driver last night come to tell me I was really close on my blind side and then I showed him the mirrors. He was thrilled and wanted some for himself.

Dang! Guess I gotta keep thinkin' - that idea ain't gonna make me rich if Freightliner puts them on as an option . . .

I have to say as a guy that's just halfway thru school and have only been backing for about 3-4 days. I sorta agree. I blind side about the same. But I for the most part suck at both still.. I see improvement in myself everyday so maybe the one will start to be easier faster. Watching other students progress thru the class is fascinating to me Everyone has at this point has 1 thing they struggle with more then the rest. Some its left side offset, others its ally dock, others its blindside offset. Some its shifting. And in my class some just struggle with speaking English. Except for 1 stand out in our class. This kid from Mexico. He's been in the US about 8 days. But he's been bumping docks in Tijuana since he was 9 years old for 3 bucks a day. His English is broken, but his blindside backs are flawless.

I drive a 2014 Cascadia, that passenger side remote control worked great until it maxed out, in the past I'ved stopped the truck, ran the window down and stuck my head out the RH window to check, of course GOAL, use all your options, but don't quess,,,, be sure

Got to love blind siding....not. I do use g.o.a.l but I use a modified version of it when I can get away with it.....but will use Goal depending on the level of blind side backing.I use the mirrors for one since I can adjust the passenger side one from the drivers seat and adjust it as I am backing to make sure I never loose sight of the end of my trailer. If I need to go further than the mirror allows then I set the brakes and leans out the passenger window to check my blind side. Now if I am doing a really tight blind side I Get Out And Look.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
