Here's an older picture of Jamie (right) and I at the North Platte WM DC.
First of all..I just found out about this today...I am concerned that drivers are being thrown into situations and not given proper training because they aren't technically company drivers...please stop being a jerk...not everyone is a perfect driver like yourself...
Why the attack rat...what the heck...
Yeah.
Your previous post from more than a year prior was, "Overweight and Punished". Now Walmart is The Bad Guy?
One question for you: how much responsibility do you put on yourself as the driver?
Attack? Facts is what I deal in here. No apology that I didn't jump on the bashwagon with you. I did the same gig as Jamie, just with Crete out of the Cheyenne DC in 2021 for six months. I never pulled a trailer from a dock until a team leader or manager giving me a verbal "okay" beforehand.
My own orientation for contracting for WM loads was very brief, too. I asked lots of questions on anything that was not clear, though. I wrote down lots of notes, too. I still write down lots of notes. If there is ever a doubt, there is no doubt.
You wrote that five drivers had been dismissed. Which were you, number one or number five? If I was aware of others being fired, you can bet I'd be extra vigilant and not taking any shortcuts. Sounds like a serious infraction to me, similar to some videos I've watched on line. The "I hope nobody is in there when I pull out of the dock" excuse is 100% wrong at any customer.
Good luck.
Oh yes..one more thing..I think it's time you got another transplant..because you, sir, are heartless!!!!!!

Sure thing, Karen.
Whatever you do, don't come on here and possibly learn something from others.
Done with this one.
We have to walk to the back of our trailers and make sure the door is closed and either the safety chain is up or the door on the dock is closed before we pull a trailer from the door. If you don't, and the trailer isn't closed it's basically an automatic firing since it can get someone hurt or killed.
At the terminal , we are always required to check the trailer for people and pull the dock plate, also, close the door if its a roll up. Air horn must be blown twice, toot, toot, and pull away very slowly. Basically same procedure at customers in addition to a verbal OK from dock staff or green light if not in building.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Really? How about you meet me in three days when I'm passing through SLC and say that to me in person? Any location you choose and I'll be there.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
I'll say that to your face in any city of the country...I ain't scared of a man who hides behind that much beard...

Hold up wait a minute.
Sharon... If the drivers aren't asking proper questions that is on them. Most people don't get trained any further than "go here. Do this,"
There is no way I pull anything without the expressed permission of the customer. And I get a name of that person every time.
If 5 drivers are from the same company then that carrier needs to get with Walmart and get the proper procedure.
Although Packrat can be a little abrasive.... He is correct. Victim crying has no place here. Our radar goes up when most of the interaction we have with someone is them complaining.
Sharon Carter,
No one who answered your question gave you wrong information. I started driving way back in 1969 and common sense taught me to look in the back of the trailer after removing the wheel chock and pulling away from the dock. These fine experienced drivers have a whole lot of experience that you evidently lack and refuse to accept ant responsibility for. If you ask a question and get some really good advice take it to heart and don't be so critical because it isn't what you wanted to hear.

I remember asking how do we verify an mt trailer..they said bang the sides and make sure the deck plate isn't engaged..that was it...except for live deliveries..go inside...I had talked to the dispatch about traìning....no go...
