Turns out someone got tired of breathing the smoke coming out of the guys APU that they routed a hose attached to the driver exhaust of the APU and tied it to the frame rail under the bunk of his truck.

Bet that would be an actionable offense if they could prove who did it . . . that's just evil . . .

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Yeah, I can see getting upset with the guy, but you could easily kill someone that way.

You ain't kiddin! I mean, look at some of the UFC fighters. Some of them look like you would expect. But a number of them look like they couldn't bench press a kitten and haven't done anything except read books since they were 6 years old......until they start swingin for the fences!!!
