We were suppose to go to the Panthers game this weekend but it looks like Charlotte may actually get the worse of this. Will have to wait and see what happens Saturday. They’ve already cancelled schools here for tomorrow. Even without the wind we’ll still see some flooding starting tonight.
So did everyone in Fla make it through relatively unscathed? I’m on the coast in NC and am waiting for our turn with Ian. Live on the coast long enough and you get good at dealing with hurricanes. At least good enough to know each one is different. Hard to prepare with some of these storms that walk up the coast. Will it go inland and dissipate into a rain event? Will it go back out over water and strengthen? With every one you prepare for the worst and hope for the best. One thing that makes me nervous is the Gulf Stream. All summer it’s been close to shore. We can tell by the size of the fish being caught from the beach. This is an issue because that stream is literally a super highway for storms. Once it gets in that and gains strength it can do a lot of damage all the way up the coast. So not that I’m wishing destruction on anybody, but I would prefer if this thing goes inland. It immediately weakens and breaks up when it gets far enough on land.
Just have to hope that it doesn't stall out and become a Harvey or Sandy situation. But, better odds for going inland and dying.

Yep, y'all are in the news on MY television, right now! Early prep always helps, though. Saves much.
Man, stay safe! Ian isn't done 'playing,' it seems. Kinda sux, re: sports and schools.
Hope the game goes forward for ya! I was planning on watching, too... (from home.)

The latest from Kissimmee Fl is a lot of flooding in the downtown area and near Shingle Creek. My brother in law lives on the water on Shingle Creek at the Creek has flooded horrible since last night. The water has risen to less than 6' from the screened pool and out front there is a retention pond across from his house that is fed by the Creek and it has breeched and has flooded the front yard and there is 3' of water in the driveway. So we are basically stranded. The county says cresting is tonight so we hope it subsides. Keep you posted.
This is the final post for Hurricane Ian from me. The flood waters finally receded enough this morning at the brother in law house so we could leave safely and we arrived back at our house in Winter Haven. Lo and behold we were surprised to see no damage whatsoever. A couple of homes here sustained carport ans shingle damage but we were spared. So end of Ian and we thank you for your comments. Back to TT.

Very glad to read that you made it through safely and that your home remains in tact.
Thanks to God Almighty above!
Glad you got through it safe.
That's great news to hear!

I lived in Wilmington for 8 years went thru too many hurricanes. Fran leveled my brothers home on Wrightsville Beach. I cant remember the name of the last one I dealt w but my group of idiots "Lt Dan-ed it," we rode it out on the roof of the restaurant I worked at. Idiots we were. Had a restaurant full of food, beer, and liqour at our disposal. I remember the whip marks we received from the branches flying around us. Fun but not fun. Someone had to get stitches and the police well lets say they were not happy about our rooftop adventure.

Mr. Navy PopPop , So glad to hear!!
My family in Bradenton and Tom's in Ft. Myers are without power; generators only do so much, so . . . all we know is that they are 'okay.' All else can be repaired/replaced.
I know exactly where you speak of; stay there, stay in, and stay safe. Thanks for the update, so glad to hear you & yours are well !!!
It's crazy that they are getting power on Longboat Key, before my folks inland. (?@?@?) I've been through MANY a Florida 'Cane, that's my H/S's mascot .. Manatee Hurricanes!!! I sure don't miss it, during this time of year.
Keep us in the loop, say howdy to the missus & family from the group on TT;
