The most I have ever made at a job was 9 dollars a hour so I just want to know is it enough to pay for my car payments and bills because I am will to do anything I do not have kids or nothing I told my girlfriend that she will have to suffer for 8 months but after the 8 months I will like to find a job just travelling California were I can be home every other weekend or every weekend please let me know how the tests are and how many people pass I just really want to pass.

Welcome Humberto!

First thing's first, you should talk to your recruiter about specific details like how much you'll be making during orientation and training. Since you're starting school on Sunday, you don't have much time to prepare, but the High Road Training Program is a great place to start studying for your CDL permit and endorsements. Again, seems like you're under the gun w/ time, but Truck Driver's Career Guide is a great intro for this career. Talk to your trucking family, I'm assuming you already did, they can probably give you some insight for life on the road.

Can't answer if a certain wage will be enough for your specific financial needs - only you know those details. Realize that for your rookie year, you won't be making as much compared to even just one year of driving experience.

Welcome aboard Humebrto!

You will be able to pay $1000/month worth of bills your first year. You can expect to make in the area of $32,000-$36,000 your first year. So you'll have no problem there.

As far as passing the CDL exams, the written tests are pretty easy if you put in the study time. The pre-trip inspection exam is no concern. It's the backing and driving part of the exam that are the most difficult. It's not uncommon for people to fail their first road exam. That's no big deal. You'll just reschedule it and pass it the second time. Just make sure you put in some serious study time and pay close attention. Learn all you can every day. People who put in a serious effort normally do very well in this industry. It's the people who are lazy or have the wrong attitude and expectations that really struggle.

Pre-trip Inspection:

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.

Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.
