You can only hit something and not realize it by not paying attention. So, pay attention and even if you misjudge the distance or some other kind of mistake, you won't leave because you didn't notice. Also, you will be able to feel it and hear it, even if it's just a minor bump.

Ryan, JakeBreak is an experienced driver with many many years under his belt, and also a long time member of this forum. Save your lectures for your children. We are all getting tired of it.

And I already know what you're going to come back with, so don't bother.

I really wasn't trying to lecture. I am genuinely sorry that it came across that way. This sounded like a rookie question to me, so I answered with what I believe is a genuine response to a genuine question, albeit one that I perceived as a green one.

Turtle, I really didn't have any idea that the initial post was started by a long time member. Beyond that, I accept your criticism with humility.

Sorry, my last post referenced the OP, but the comment of mine you quoted was in response to another respondent. Forgive my error there.

My advice would be to have a bunch of flyers printed up that say “Did I hit your truck? If I did, here is my name, company name and my phone number. And I DID NOT hit you and leave the scene.”

Then give every driver you encounter a copy or tape it to any and every drivers side window.

Just to be safe, always cover your butt.

I'm sorry, but this has got to be a joke, right?

You put yourself AND YOUR COMPANY at risk by doing something like this. Take a look at all those billboards for lawyers, just chomping at the bit to garner the million-dollar lawsuit. And you're suggesting a driver advertise they might have hit another truck? Hmm, then the lawyer subpoena's the logs and finds out the driver didn't log their pre-trip, fuel...hmm.

I hope you know I'm not usually so judgmental on here, but I fail to see how BK's suggestion helps a driver enter this business, nor would it make them a better driver.

To BK's point about flyers, remember the "kick me" papers taped to kid's backs in school?

I want to get a bunch of stickers that say "Hit me!" I'll stick them on the trailers of drivers that park at truck stop and rest area entrances, leaving you barely enough room to get in or out.

Steve: it was a joke, humor, scarcasm if you will. We’re you born without the humor gene? Lol

BK, yes I get humor. But I’m also not a mind reader. Your post didn’t give any indication it was humor, not even a “haha.” So, how would I, or the original poster know it was humor?

I am in the doghouse myself because I thought I was reading greenhorn posts asking greenhorn questions. confused.gif

Yeah Ryan. Posting here on TT can get a little bit of an adventure. The only posts I have total confidence with for information/humor are the ones PackRat posts.
