CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I am not sure CRST gives the answers to a state maintained test but for one moment let's go with it. Do you really want to be handed a Cdl without learning that info behind it? If your being giving a Cdl how do you do a expect to do a job that you barely have a clue about?

I doubt this is true but if it's even true in the smallest sense I would run like hell the other direction. Just because you have family that drives truck does not mean you are qualified based on that alone.

Basically there is no short cut into trucking. You either put in the hard work and have a long lasting career or try taking a short cut and watch the trucking industry chew ya up and spit you out in less than a year.
