Went to orientation for this school not trying to be negative but it is a joke . It is a means to an end so i'll just go with it .Got my permit , DOT physical and drug test out of the way. classes start April 14th . A Large thank you to Brett and the guys and gals here on this forum for the positive upbeat attitudes they have for all . The High Road CDL Training Program kicked arse. if Jopa sees this e- mail me at danw.johnson@yahoo.com have a few ?'s i'd like to ask about Prime Inc. CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Any info you have about them would be helpful. do you drive for them Daniel? do they have a good training program ? are you required to have haz-mat endorsement? just any heads up info . have not applied to them just yet but intend to . thanks

Ok did I miss something? What school are you referring to? And aren't all schools a means to an end? I'm lost here....

no you did not miss any thing .the instructor argued with his girl friend slash receptionist in front of the 3 other new guys and myself .among a few other in appropriate things that went on but it is alll good .i do thank you and the rest here for the great training program .did not have to use the book the guy at the school issued us . classes start the 14th of this month so i'll hang with it to help refresh my aging memory.
