CDL skills test day!

Test day has come and gone. As I’m sure everyone that has been through. This is aware, we started out with the pre-trip. Once I got past the mandatory brake test, it was all downhill. Went around the truck to inspect all the parts, of course this was driver side, only except for the few items you only find on the passenger side, and was told that I passed.

For the skills portion I had to do the driver side offset back, the straight line back, And my nemesis driver side parallel park. I aced all of them unbelievably. Nothing went wrong which shocked me.

The drive was uneventful, thankfully, and I passed that as well. I’m now back home and waiting for Ohio and Indiana to get their paperwork together so I can get my CDL.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
