Well, I took my permit tests today and passed all three with flying colors! I missed 3 on GK, 2 on AB, and 2 on CV. I am very glad to have this part of the process out of the way. Now I can focus on putting in applications and calling the recruiters back.

Thanks everyone. As I've mentioned in other posts, I was already well into studying and taking practice tests before I joined TT, so I can't give HR the credit for today's successes. I will, however, say that I've looked over the HR program and took a few of the review quizzes and the practice tests and they're good. HR presents the information from a truck driver's viewpoint, which is a good thing.

Rico..you said it right...HR educates you from a truckers point of view....So, having agreed on that......When you go to your cdl school....which "view point" do you think they will train you from ???????? You can take all the online tests you want, pass em...ace em...pat yourself on the back...But I'll tell ya....those little things are not a piece of sand on the beach of truck driving.....The HR will take you thru everything you will face in school...EVERYTHING....there is no other online training that will do that....for free.... You may have gotten your permit....but if you go to one of the INTENSE cdl schools, not taking ALL the education you can get with you....it may cost you your dream....dont take any chances...we all know that the HR is tough....and its tough for a reason...I'll put this dare out to you....do the HR...and see if you can.....I'm not gonna say ace it...cuz no one does straight thru...there are halts...but I'll just say....stay in the 95% bracket.....I dare ya.......

Guys, I appreciate the encouragement and understand why you are so in favor of HR. It's a good program. I'm confident that I've found a quality school. In fact, after sorting through CDL mill after CDL mill, I found two good schools to choose from. I have literally spent weeks studying for the permit. Some nights I went to bed with a headache from studying so much. I'm burned out on studying for now, and will soon have to start studying the Hazmat endorsement. I'll use HR for that, but I'm going to spend my remaining time before school looking into different companies, accumulating all the stuff I am going to need for orientation and going out with the trainer (I don't even have a duffle bag yet), getting my car ready for the trip to MO, and spending time with my family. Since there have already been some sparks fly between me and some posters on this site, please accept the spirit in which I'm saying this--I'm done studying for now. :)

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
