Don, happy retirement. Retirement can be a blessing or a curse. I hope it proves to be a great blessing to you!

Congrats Don, and safe travels whenever you do start that. Me and wife hope to be able to retire early and travel.

By the way Iā€™m curious did FAB do anything for you guys before it ended? Did they give an exact reason? Usually there is an article when companies close but never found anything on FAB.

At the time they anounnced they were ceasing operations, my regional manager explained to me that FAB was closing their doors due to the owners wanting to retire and hand the company over to their children. The children did not want to take over the business. My regional manager was a pleasure to work with, and I really liked working for the company. I hated to see them close their doors.

Anna A. may have additional knowledge.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Don,

Best wishes to you on your retirement. You have to do it while you can still enjoy the time off.

I'm hoping in 2023 to slow down and retire in 2024. Then I'm going to travel and make a nuisance of myself with friends and family šŸ˜šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

Congrats Don, get some hobbies to keep ya busy lol. I couldn't wait to retire early and fly away to live in SE Asia.

Best thing ever did, besides trucking lol....Now having a newly built house, for my new little family, I got plenty to keep me busy, doing finishing touches the workers left half-assed lol painting, adding more cement to porch entry, plenty to be busy for awhile lol.......Just sucks aint a Lowes/Home Depot around lol heck aint really any real auto parts stores here. Dang I miss my tools back in Calif lol

Congrats Don! I hope retirement suits you, but if not, you can always return to trucking and you'll be in great company. I think half the people in trucking over the age of 60 had retired from something at some point, only to return to trucking after realizing we can't be happy sitting on the porch living like dogs.

We need stuff to do!

So hopefully you'll find new stuff and have a great time of it. I also hope you'll have plenty of time to be a big part of this community going forward. We don't need truck drivers around here, we need people who can help others become truck drivers, and that's you!

All the best to ya Don!
