My CDL permit was Michigan and the school and testing was in Ohio. No issues. That was this year.

I got my permit in Illinois in September of this year, tested in Wisconsin in November. The tester entered the info needed into an online database that the Illinois DMV looked up and put in for my upgraded license. It did take a few days for the info to get into the system, which I was told varies by state.

Can you get your CDL permit in one state but actually take your CDL test in another state? The reason I ask is because I live in Nevada and to go to another state for training at some point after you get trained I believe they send you back to your home state so you can set up a CDL test but is there any way I could just take my CDL test in the same state as I did training? It's about 1700 miles away from me and to be honest I'll be leaving my apartment as soon as I go so it's not like I'll exactly have a place to come back to so I was hoping maybe I could just take my test in the same state as my training so I don't have to worry about it but I at least need the permit to be able to go
