Has anyone pursued a degree online or taken classes while OTR? Just the nature of ever shifting off duty time etc, I wondering if it’s doable. I’m great at time management.
It sure is, just need a solid internet connection for the laptop. I am taking courses and doing certifications and research all the time. Well, in spurts anyway. I get on kicks and do a lot, then nothing at all for months.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
If I remember the Road Home podcasts correctly, Brett Aquila, the founder of Trucking Truth did extensive online learning and is now a network guru after his 15+ year tenure on the road and birthed that career while studying OTR.
Like Pack Rat said, have a good internet connection. I am getting my career started in the next 30 days and I found T-Mobile to have a good plan with unlimited data. Your phone is the hotspot.

I have one college credit in Spanish. Downloaded an Audible Spanish tutorial that I’m trying to devote about 15 minutes per day to. It’s surprising to me how much is coming back after years of neglect.
Also, my grandson is required to take a foreign language credit next year, so we have already formed a two man study group. The first phrase I taught him to say is: “Mi Abuelo es un gran hombre.”
Don't bother with T-Mobile phone tethering. It's throttled too much to stream lecture videos after so many GBs. Get the T-Mobile home gateway instead. 50/mo with autopay, and unlimited unthrottled data

Thanks everyone! I'm planning my jump from B to A soon. I would like to take courses to keep the brain happy.
One of the benefits at Knight is free college tuition for drivers and their families, knight pays for it. It's something I've thought about. Not trying to promote them, it' just seems sort of relevant to the conversation
