I think you are being short sighted, yes the pay is not very good. However if you put in 6 months to a year safely you can probably get a raise either with Trans AM or another company.

Imo you are disappointed in the pay ( rightfully so) and are trying to come up with reasons and excuses to not take the offer. If you stay in security 3 years down the line you will be making the same as you are now. 3 years down the line after taking the Trans AM offer you will be making far more, that 31 cpm will easily double.

I'm wondering if that pay is simply during a training period or probationary phase.

It seems very low in comparison to other similar companies. At Knight, our first 30k solo miles are "Squire" miles, meaning training and .44 cpm. Once completed your base is .50. Even companies renowned for low pay are paying significantly higher once orientation and training, if applicable, is completed.

You may want to revisit tge discussion with the. And make sure that is the pay rate long term.

Plus as was said, if you drive for them for 6 months, you're making the same money as not, but you can get back into the industry.

In regards to your health. Trucking didn't make you unhealthy. Your choices in diet and exercise did. The good thing about understanding that is that you can choose to be in the truck, eat healthy, exercise and live great. But you have to make that choice.

You previously posted on here that your DAC is clear, but that letter from WEL Companies indicates that you have something serious on your DAC. Or, you have something negative on your DAC that you didn't disclose on your application. Contact HireRight at Hireright.com and request a copy of your DAC. 1 request a year is free.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

DAC? 🤔

The rejection letter posted indicates they may have found something on a consumer report (credit check). This has zero to do with DAC.

I suggest having both reports pulled, make sure all the information is accurate. Dispute inaccuracies. Keep in mind, not all companies check credit.

Keep looking.

DAC reports are provided by HireRight, a private, for-profit company that specializes in background check services. HireRight is legally bound to operate on regulations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

Your DAC report IS a consumer report. If your DAC report contains information that you consider incorrect, or unjustified, or wrong in some way, you can dispute it with HireRight under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). They are legally bound to review, investigate, and make the necessary changes, as well as take reasonable steps to make sure that it is correct, in general.

I know what a DAC report is Pearl.

I’ve not seen a credit report as part of it. If I’m wrong, I stand corrected.

Regardless he needs to be his own advocate and try to understand what is potentially holding him back.

I checked and DAC report is considered a form of a consumer report.

My apologies if I mislead anyone.

I pulled my DAC , errr HireRight, and now the event is on there. I guess it took a while to show up.

That said, working in this guard shack isn't half bad. We've got trucks lined up outside, and my new employer is not only interested in my ideas on how to improve the process of getting the trucks in and out of here faster, he's actually spending the money implementing my ideas. I'm making $16 an hour, but I'm getting a bit of overtime. I took home damn near $800 last week for a little over fifty hours. Fifty hours is nothing to me, when I'm used to 70+ hours a week.

The health insurance, it's top notch. Blue Cross, Blue Shield, with a $600 deductible.

I'm home in my bed every night, and I have time to work on projects at home when I'm not working. So, I suppose all is well that ends well. Most of the trucking companies I talked to told me to come back in a year, and they could probably work with me. So, for now, I just plan on doing this for a while, as long as it lasts anyway. I'm on my feet half of the day at work, so I'm losing weight, getting healthier and stronger. I have a ton of more energy when I'm home to do stuff that I enjoy. Before, I'd get home for my day and a half off every week, and lay around on the couch until it was time to pack up the truck and head back out again.

The job can be hectic during the day. I've usually got four to five trucks lined up in both directions most of the day. But, damn, I'm kind of enjoying this.
