I've had it in my personal vehicles for years and love it. I get tired of just one genre after hours of driving in the truck though and it's not easy for me to change stations then, like in a car, because I stream it via bluetooth from my phone. So I stick to Pandora while driving truck and use SiriusXM in my Jeep or on my off time.
I used a portable unit for about two months during the summer. The reception could have been better. It seemed no matter where I sprawled the lengthy antenna, it never seemed to improve. I ditched it for that reason alone. Not to mention it was just one more thing for me to take care of in the truck.

I also think that portable unit would be a pain. My truck radio isn’t compatible with Sirius, so I subscribed to the streaming service, which I get through my phone just like Pandora and Audible. Perfect reception and I think it just might be the best $11 per month I spend.
The trucks in my company's fleet come with SiriusXM provided. I switch over from podcasts and music to sports talk on SiriusXM periodically. I also like SiriusXM because I can catch any game from any of the major leagues, no matter where I happen to be. I have my favorite teams, but when those aren't playing, I like catching a random game of two teams I have no rooting interest in. On that note, during the fall on Friday and Saturday nights, I will sometimes switch to FM radio and scan the dial for a local high school or small college team game.
It's all a means to find a way to break up the monotony. Keep things interesting and my mind engaged.
I have used it for years in personal vehicles. I have a portable unit mounted on the dash in my kenworth. The antenna I have double sided taped to the top of my drivers mirror. Reception is great in that location. The only time I loose signal is in a tunnel or in a tight canyon sometimes. I know that location works well with the peterbilts as well.
I can easily change stations to the ones I have programmed to the button.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
Is it still a little device you have to install or does it come into your truck automatically after you subscribe?

Well, I am hesitant to give out any technical information because I’m terrible in that area, but I don’t have any device and my truck radio is not compatible with Sirius. So I subscribed to their streaming service, downloaded their app from the Apple store and just use my phone to play it through the same Bluetooth speaker I play Pandora on. Works great, so far. Perfect reception even in those tunnels.
Not a fan, but for those who are into Sirius:
I'm not affiliated with Sirius in any way. Have never been and will never be a subscriber. I get no consideration of any kind if you click the link or accept the offer. Just seemed like a good deal for the folks who do Sirius.
The company provides the service in our trucks, which is good because I wouldn't pay for it.
I like the '80's channel, but there are some songs that get played too often. Love the Bluegrass Junction station, but same thing, there are certain songs that get played over and over. The variety is good and I have found I can listen for long periods at a time.
I recently thought there was a problem with the subscription, or something, since everytime I turned on Sirius, it would just display a number and play advertising for their service; however, I discovered it was just on channel 0. Once I hit one of my preset stations, it was fine.
