Enrico, I think you have misunderstood something. I live in Texas, but my terminal is in Nashville, TN. When it's time for me to go home for a few days they will send me a load that goes to Texas. I will then take my truck home. If you happen to live somewhere that you can't park your truck at then you could park it at a nearby truck stop or something like that.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Thanks old school that makes sense it's all new to me
Hey Enrico, everyone of us here was new to this at one point. We completely understand how confusing this can be to someone who has never been exposed to the ins and outs of this business. You feel free to ask all the questions you want to - there's not a person here who will act like a fool and try to make you feel dumb. We are here to help you find your way.
We've got some great resources here - you might want to work your way through the Truck Driver's Career Guide, it's got a ton of great information. And if you just would like to read something about what it's really like being a truck driver you should check out Brett's Book. That link will hook you up with a free on-line version of it and it's an easy book to read with lots of great stories from the road in it.
