Im not a fan of Walmart. They typically don't take super long with beef but their rules definitely don't make them "trucker friendly". Give me a drop and hook anyday🤣 I've been to Walmart in North Platte, NE every week for the last month and a half. It's their favorite place to send me. Their minimum is 3 hours😒

Cleburne, TX = Walmart distribution center. I like delivering to Walmart DC’s because their procedures are not draconian and always the same. My only irritation is that they are so exacting about the appointment time. I’ve never been late, so that’s not the problem. But a driver cannot arrive more than an hour early. 9 times out of 10 I’m way ahead of the appointment time so I have to park and wait. It’s nice that some DC’s have remote lots. I wish they all did.

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Nice!!! Yeah the rates and fuel are not in sync for sure. I ran leased onto a tanker outfit for several years, then last year got my own authority. What a headache!!

I’m headed to Houston with some cable then run home with a couple big granite blocks. I’ll be glad when headstones pick back up. I’ve learned alot, but general FB freight isn’t alot of fun. But it suits me more than bumping docks. I’ve got things pretty much setup I work when I want. Took a long time to get here, but it works for me.

You working for a private fleet is a good thing in my opinion. That is the great thing about this industry, enough varied work it can fit many needs and wants for drivers once they get experience. Too many want to shortcut things, and jump straight to the good stuff without any experience.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
