Yep remember the US 54 a lot ! Used it headed south to Tucumcari NM to the I-40 many times outts Iowa etc. I drove nights, so I got used to the little bodunk towns, and sudden speed changes !! Many times, I'd see the sheriff ahead or along the road, just waiting for a truck to screw up lol. I always drove2-3 under to be sure. Never had any troubles. Also that non existant "scale" off the road in the boonies !......CRST sent out a message to not use that route, as too many drivers were not staying alert thru there(Kansas)
I talked to our DM about it, he said we were good, we can use the route anytime, since we stayed out of trouble, and had travelled that route so much before.....And once you're thru the area, the speed limit rises almost as fast as it drops lol takes a bit to get rolling back up to speed with a full load....
Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
