The FEDS Should Mandate California To Remove The 55mph Speed Limit

Davy you hit the nail on the head. Speeding is almost always almost all risk and very little reward if any at all, especially in a place like California where a lot of areas have a lot of traffic. It’s the same reason it’s pointless to get in turtle races with other drivers. If you come up on someone going barely slower than you and you can seem to pass them just get behind them and wait it out. It won’t hurt you. Same if someone tries to pass you when they don’t have the actual speed to do it. Just back off and let it happen. The “1-2 mph makes a different over 10 hours” holds no weight because I can pretty much promise you you will never get stuck behind someone for 10 hours much less even 2.

The 55 speed limit was put in place back in the late '70's not for safety, but fuel savings, during the first oil embargo and shortages....Long lines at the pumps, and odd/even days to get your (circa 1979)fuel lol. And it's never changed since.
