This is why I won't drink more than 24 hours before returning to work, and I never drink while just on a reset. I only do it at home, and normally the first day or two out of a 4-day home time to avoid anything like this from happening. It's very important to never put yourself in a situation where you might test positive on something that can easily be prevented, especially when having a CDL.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
I had to take a drug/alcohol test one time at 8:00 am. When he gave me the breathalizer, I asked, "How often do people fail a breathalyzer at 8:00 am?"
He said, "It's pretty common. Happens more than you would think."
That's a huge bummer that happened. I don't know what they're going to say. Keep us updated!
Spent three years as a Drug Screen collector and breath alcohol technician. The vast majority of people that came in passed their breathalyzer.
I probably did over a thousand breathalyzer tests and only 20-30 or so people ever came out positive. But yes people will show up to work with alcohol in their system.
Fun fact, the highest reading I ever got was a 0.29 BAC. For reference, that's nearly quadruple the legal limit for non commercial motorists (.08)

How long have you been driving?
My understanding is that it takes about 24 hours for alcohol to exit the system, as Jamie stated. Drinking lots of water is supposed to help accelerate the process but I think it depends on the individual metabolism and can be very unpredictable.
As was said before, let us know how this situation progresses.
Supposedly they have a timeframe to put it in the system of the clearing house. So if it’s not in today I might’ve gotten lucky but I’ll definitely keep y’all updated.
But of course they could’ve put it on DAC so I just requested that as well. I’ll be damn lucky if they don’t put it on there and trust me Im definitely ain’t doing that again!
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.
I’ve been driving dump truck btw, I do have a Class A CDL but I drive dump truck.
I’ve only been driving a commercial vehicle for about a year now.

It was specifically a DOT drug screen and breathalyzer test? I’m really curious how this is going to turn out for you because it wasn’t a DUI but I’d imagine it’ll count as a failed drug test and it’ll be reported to the federal database. For your sake I hope not but rules are rules for a reason and I’d be surprised if you skate by on this one. Keep us posted

Driving Under the Influence
That's why I got that whole drinking and going to bars out of my system in my 20's....@ 19 after drinking pretty much most of the day, into the night with a friend. Got popped for a DUI , and blew a 0.24% (when limit was 0.10 Calif) Just glad I didn't crash, or kill someone. Laws weren't as harsh back in 1980 like it is now, cost me a $245 fine, 1 AA meeting, and 1 day drunk class......
Did I learn my lesson? nope, 8 months later,@ 20, I got popped again, barely blew the limit @ 0.10%. But that 1 sealed the deal ! it cost me around $3,000 in total, 15 months of drunk classes, and AA meetings the whole time, I HATED AA meetings.
I just changed the people I was hanging around with rarely, if ever, drank again, and NEVER drove if I had been drinking a little.... This was just before I was getting married, and she wasn't happy. But after that I swore off drinking....It was NOT fun, going before the same judge a second time, I was so embarrassed to say the least. Not proud of it, but was young & dumb, but finally learned my lesson !!
Driving Under the Influence
Very true Pianoman but of course I had a buddy that failed as well at another company but they never put it on his clearing house report.
He got lucky of course but then again idk if it’s gonna show on his DAC.?

So on Father’s Day of this week I decided to celebrate for my first Father’s Day, well unfortunately the next day came out to be tragic!
I showed up at work with a little headache from drinking the day before and guess what - BAAM! The supervisor came in and everyone was told to get a DOT drug screen and breathalyzer.
But of course at this point I didn’t really think anything of it until I came out at 0.04 👊 yeah so this is definitely the worst mistake ever, but of course it hasn’t posted yet and they have 3 days after the testing to post it.
By far the worst mistake I’ve ever made🙁
