Right now companies are really asking applicants to jump thru loops.
Did you maintain your CDL and DOT physical?
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Jeffery, I think experience within the past 3 years is critical to most companies. You might want to make a few exploratory phone calls to recruiters to get a feel for what is currently being looked for in experienced new hires.
Don’t be surprised if you have to go through a training program again.
And like PackRat asked, a lot will depend on your license and physical exam status.
Yes I still have my CDL.. my medical card has expired, but every company I've worked for has paid for the new physical

You may not have a CDL anymore, depending on your state it may have been down graded to a regular license since your med card expired.

It depends on the state’s rule. In Ga the cdl will be downgraded when the med card expires. Once a new med card is submitted they will reinstate it.

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Yes, but right now with no medical certificate, he literally cannot drive a truck. With tighter hiring practices, this lapse could present a major hurdle. Other than health issues or a true lack of funds, I would never skip having a current DOT physical on file with the DMV.

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
Prime will require any driver who hasn't driven in the last 6 months to go through some sort of training. It's an insurance thing and i bet most companies will be similar.
As far as the med card...in NJ you lose the CDL 60 days after expiration. Then you need to retest.
**** you may now fall under the Entry Level Driver Program started in 2/2022. Training may be more extensive because of this
I would pay for my own physical and find out if i had a CDL still. How you proceed will be determined then.

So I got out of my truck in October 2020.. COVID was making the job suck and I needed a break, so I started working at a back country lodge as a cook lol.. it was fun, but the open road is calling me back. Just trying to get an idea about the best companies to try. And if you think I'll need to go back to training.. I hope not, I'm very comfortable behind the wheel.. I started driving back in 08... Before good GPS and automatic trucks were a thing.. im having a hard time finding this info on most carrier site.. most of em just say 1 to 2 years experience.. but none of em are saying within the last X amount of years..
