Time To Air My Dirty Laundry

Do any of you have a way to dry clothes in the air while you are driving? I know this is an odd question, but I’ve been washing out my clothes in a 5 gal. bucket (shorts, socks, tee shirts), and I’d like to have a way to air dry these items while I’m driving. I can’t figure out a way to rig a “clothesline” somewhere outside on the truck.

BTW, I still prefer to dry my delicate items in a dryer, so I can use fabric softener. Lol.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Why not use a washer & dryer at the terminal or a truck stop? I keep enough clothes on the truck that I can go six weeks before I run out.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I couldn’t really tell you. I always carry 2 weeks of clothes on the truck. I can always find enough time to wash them at a truckstop if necessary.

I sometimes hand wash a few items. The safety net for the top bunk sticks up against the back wall, I just fling things over that and everything dries overnight.

I hang my towel up in my truck. What I do is open my closet door hang the towel on the outside of the door allowing some to fold over, then close the door it won't anywhere.

If you hung your clothes outside your truck and drive you'd have to wash em again because they'd be covered in road filth. You'd be better off hanging them inside the truck and pointing the AC at them.

Thanks for all the advice on this.

My terminal has a free laundry room in the driver’s lounge. I can usually wait until I get routed there and then do my big wash. Otherwise I can catch up on washing clothes and bedding during home time. If I hand wash my basic stuff between those times I can avoid using truck stop machines altogether.

I’m going to try drying my few items by getting one of those mesh laundry bags and hanging it on the back of the cab. I’ll see how that works out.
