Point taken. They did do a hair follicle test when I hired on with Maverick. They took it from my chest IIRC. It definitely wasn't from my bald head.
Joshua S.,
The current group discussion, especially BK, Ramper Romper, BY, Errol V. and Old School all give sound advice and information.
In this case one size does not fit all. The key here is the THC metabolites and the body’s ability/rate to metabolize substances, which differ individually. The 90-day benchmark is the average, probably for active metabolisms and body types. The best investment now is patience and caution, 1-year to be certain. Stay clean and once you’ve waited a period of time for which you’re confident and certain to be “clean” of past substance use, a sound strategy is to shave scalp and/or body hair in the approximate 3-months before the test, perhaps longer for body hair growth. The resulting regrowth of hair specimen should be fresh and clean.
Good luck, dude.
I was thinking about suggesting cutting his hair. By the time it's 1.5" long it'll have been around 8 months since he did weed. That should be plenty of time IMO. I wouldn't be afraid after being clean that long.
B Y has an idea:

I have heard that if you cut all the body hair off ("super bald"?) amounts to refusal to take the hair follicle test. Do you want to find out? Trucking Truth wants to know.

I was suggesting he cut his hair and in 3 months, after it's grown and 8 months since he last did weed, get tested.

Did you not read my post beyond suggesting he cut his hair?
I concur, Errol.
Zero presence of scalp/body hair does amount to refusal to test. I believe BY means that once an individual is sure to be clean and clear of substance use, a shave of scalp/body hair, then followed by a subsequent regrowth of the required 1.5" hair length should produce a clean slate specimen for the test.
Maybe I am the lone voice here. Prolly am, goes with the hamdle I guess. Seems figuring out how long after and what steps someone should go to to pass a drug screen for weed is a new direction, but information I'd never bad to share. 1) Errol, yep, we'll all be forgiven, but quite possibly NOT by the earthly hiring authorities. 2)The Curmudgeon says the same thing to prospective drivers as he did to aspiring cop candidates (met a lot). Quit smoking weed at LEAST a year before you want to get your cdl , two is better (shows a seriousness about the stressful career your undertaking). Don't drink to blackout for at least four years (ever is better). Don't try coke, meth (unless it has otrexate on the end), heroin, pcp, etc etc etc. I know this sounds old-timerish Yep. But follow those suggestions and the road thru the background won't present as many potholes.
YAMMD and likely does.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
The point is not to pass the test. The point is to live a lifestyle that the test isn't even a concern.
May sound hypocritical coming from a musician who lived the opposite lifestyle, but by the time I started my trucking career, I hadn't had any substances in my body for years.
Now, I understand that life throws us curve balls, the thought process needs to change though. Rather that trying to game the system, it's about changing your life.

Yes, we have seen that before B Y. Did you read Old School's post? He's been on here quite a long time and has dealt with the many people that have failed a hair follicle test after 6+ months of being "clean" or not having used anything in that time frame.
With this economy and a failed hair follicle test, while not reported to the Clearing House, it's pretty much a death sentence to having a career. We've had a number of people come here that have gone through the SAP program and still can't get looked at. It's not a sure thing how quickly marijuana will go through your system and it's far better to air on the side of caution if you really want to be a driver.
