Let's see...older woman wearing red shirt, black jeans and purple chucks. Probably wearing the same bejeweled horn rimmed glasses in your profile pic.

Sounds like you're trying to stand out in a crowd and be noticed. Happens all the time with certain types. Look at me! Look at me! Then when a guy looks at you, you cry foul!

Try wearing a more age appropriate outfit. Maybe along the lines of a spiffy Hillary Clinton style pant suit and you won't be looked at or offered any help.

Really guys? Comments like this are completely unnecessary and inappropriate. The fact is, NONE of us were there. Maybe NaeNae reacted defensively when she didn’t need to, or maybe she was right to be defensive in that situation.

All I’ll say is, is it really so hard to believe that being a female in a male-dominated industry might come with some additional challenges? I think it’s very possible there was little to nothing noteworthy about this interaction but did you ever stop to think WHY she might be more on edge and alert than you or I would be in the same scenario? It’s because there are a lot of dudes that think nothing of harassing a woman at work. I’ve seen it firsthand tons of times since my gf started working in this industry.

Grow up

Way to make an assumption about my political beliefs and my capability of doing my job, based on what I pulled out of the closet that day.

Let me guess, a woman wearing a short skirt is "asking for it" when a strange man grabs her, or r@pes her.

Let me guess, it's the teenage girls fault for having big boobs and "distracting" the teenage boy, so HER education time is interrupted when she is sent to the principals office, and then home, because "boys will be boys" and "bodies are always sexualized."

The fact of the matter is, my glasses are chosen because I LIKE them. My sneakers are chosen because they fit my Flintstone feet. Same with the T-shirt and jeans. They cover the appropriate parts of my body. None of these articles of clothing/daily wear is inviting ANYONE to speak to me while I'm trying to do my job.

Do you chose your daily clothing based on who may interact with you every day? Does your wife or daughter have to think about who may be around them, and if a T-shirt and jeans is enough armor?

Give me a break.

There was NOTHING about my actions or situation that said I needed help, wanted additional conversation, or asked him to touch my equipment, while my butt was still in my driver's seat. NOTHING. But based on my outfit description from days before, I was asking for it.

Try wearing a more age appropriate outfit. Maybe along the lines of a spiffy Hillary Clinton style pant suit and you won't be looked at or offered any help.

Me personally I absolutely chose my daily clothing based on who I may interact with. As does my wife. My daughters will never dress how some girls the exact same age are dressing these days.

I really haven't participated in this discussion because it is so filled with stereotypical, preconceived thinking. I have learned from experience on this forum that it is hard to disabuse people of their mistaken but firm beliefs.

Way to go, NaeNae!

The way you dress is mostly to make you comfortable. Of course we Americans have certain unspoken dress codes. We often dress better to visit a place of worship. Going for a job interview means no ripped jeans (most of the time). Driving a truck? Anything goes. Just don't judge a truck driver by their pajama bottoms and flip flops.

Interesting, I thought Errol was being sarcastic. Seeing anyone dressed like Clinton would probably cause severe gastrointestinal issues as well as severe shrinkage so I suppose that would be a good anti harassment tactic.

Although, most men will hit on anything that has a pulse and is breathing in this industry. And most females will solicit attention from any males no matter how ugly and stinky they are. It's unconscious on both parts. It's just our species nature.

And before the litany of "I'm not that way" comes, if you're human, you have those qualities to some extent or another. It's just evolutionary biology. It is what it is. We temper it through logical thought and societal pressure.

Ultimately we're responsible for our own personal defense. It's goes back to what I said earlier. Despite all of our advances as a species, we're still just mamals and still act on our instincts to some degree.

I’m not sure if that’s just your way of thinking Davy so you assume everyone else thinks that way. When you say men will hit on anything with a pulse. But that’s certainly not me. It’s blowing me away that some of you can’t get past the fact that he may of been simply trying to help or being nice. Could have he been trying to flirt? Possible. But it’s just as possible he was being friendly.

Indeed he could have been simply trying to help, but we don't know, we weren't there.

At the same time, there's a wealth of data that shows biochemical changes and behavioral changes in men in response to interactions with women, and likewise with women and men. Both genders act and react based upon their programing in their DNA. It's involuntary and inescapable.

We have some stigma associated with it, like we're bad for our it and women are bad for flirting and seeking attention but in reality it's just our instincts.

Pretty safe bet to lay odds that the guys motivation wasn't entirely just to help. Also a pretty safe bet to lay odds that if he looked like Brad Pitt, Nae would have had an entirely different reaction.

So, Davy, we all act and react based on our DNA programming? Where are you getting your “wealth of data”? From Charles Darwin?

Speaking for myself, I have this thing called “impulse control” and I believe most people have it and use it. We are not animals acting on instinct, as you seem to believe. It is very common for men to interact with women and women with men without ulterior motives. The spirit of monogamy has not gone extinct.

All that matters is that NaeNae thought the guy was creepy and had a perfect right to object to his involvement in her business regardless of his motive.

And that Brad Pitt comment was inappropriate, sexist and implies that NaeNae evaluated the situation based on the guy’s appearance and not his actions. Davy, I think you like to come across as a super smart person and maybe you are, but sometimes you come across as just the opposite.

Unless you have links to show this wealth of data you are referring too I’m going to have to assume you are just making them up. This discussion has gone to a rather bizarre place.

At any rate I’m going to continue to help fellow drivers male and female drivers alike. I have yet to have someone not welcome it. And whenever that day does come I’ll happily walk away. Won’t make any difference to me.
