Entry Level Driver Training
The training you will go through to get your CDL. The process was standardized last year in February. It takes a while for the stated requirements to filter down to web pages and so on. But all Schools are using this program.
Here's a link: ELDT APPLICABILITY
Your school must be registered in the Training Provider Registry, and they will report your completion to a web page run by the FMCSA.
Make sure your school is registered (They probably will be) or your Trucking studies will not be recognized for your CDL test.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
The FMCSA was established within the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2000. Their primary mission is to prevent commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities and injuries.
What Does The FMCSA Do?
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
Okay, so this should be included in whatever training a school/company provides, or I'll have to find it elsewhere?

The ELDT ->IS<- the outline of your training. A week of "theory" (Mostly laws & regulations you should know a bit about) and three weeks practicing your backing skills and on-road driving (public roads).
A community college may not work on the "week" format, but you will be putting in the hours according to the school schedule.
Gotcha! Thanks, Errol. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me.

As the title says, what is the ELDT? I've only seen it mentioned once, on the Oklahoma CDL site. I've never heard it mentioned in any videos, seen it on school or company websites, etc. If someone could explain it, I'd be grateful!
