Just following this conversation reminded me of the time I took my ten hour break at a truck stop in Virginia. I walked into their restaurant and sat down at a table. Before I even got settled into the booth, a rather large and toothless waitress plants a steaming hot cup of coffee on the table. "Here's your coffee, Love," she says.
I quickly told her, "No thanks, I don't drink coffee." Her response was reflex quick... "Well, you ain't no REAL truck driver then!"
I do know a lot about making coffee. I can't help but learn about it. I'm married to a coffee snob. She agrees... the "pour over" is her go to method.

Being from the bay area and living in Seattle for years, definitely a coffee guy.
The top shelves on the T680 are a plastic tub, so if you don't have that, I'd velcro a plastic tub to the surface.
I use a standard Mr coffee 5 cup model. (Our trucks come with a 2k watt inverter. The pot fits perfectly in large 32 Oz cup. I use standard filters even though it's an espresso ground. The Cafe bustello is cheap but very strong and tasty. I can also set it for autostart if desired.
I keep a Styrofoam cup for reheating in the microwave as my main cup is stainless and too big.
Saves untold amounts of money over purchasing coffee at a truck stop.
Owow)) it looks great and after reading it im going to drink coffe))
I never paid for a coffee at Love's or Pilots lol.....Years ago, maybe 30? I tried Starbucks, plain ground brewed coffee, none of that foo-foo lala crap, total BLEHHHH.....Years later, got a starbucks, same thing, again tasted like crap!
2018 here in the Philippines, a guy I met in my hotel was a Starbucks guy. He even bought his own packets to make in his room. So we walk down to a Starbucks, I was amazed, their coffee (plain ole brewed coffee) tasted sooo dang good!! I told the girl, "WOW, your coffee here tastes so dang good compared to American Starbucks", she says "Because, we make it with Love" lol
But I found an even better coffee chain here, "Bo's Coffee" like Starbucks, in Cebu City, there are a lot of them around. And I too, gotta have strong coffee, since the caffeine, really has no effect on me, immune to it............ At home, mom had a 2 burner commercial machine dad got at work with Waste Management, they were tossing em out so he took both machines. We usually had 2 pots going, so I drank a buttload of coffee over the years, and could go right to sleep, even after having a cup before bed lol Getting off work at 12am, I'd stop at a 7-11 and get large coffee as well.

Old School, your story reminded me of one I heard a long time ago.
A driver goes into a diner and asks for a cup of coffee. He tells the waitress “Two sugars and no cream.”
The waitress says “I’m sorry sir, we are out of cream. Could you have it without milk?”.

I second the pour over Harvey mentios above. I have an electric kettle to heat up the water, then the pour-over is a simple device that allows you to make coffee to your preferred strength.
It's fun to experiment with different types of ground coffee. Caribou makes one I like called "Obsidian"... a dark roast.
