Does the story say why he fled?
A couple years ago there was a driver that got pulled over by DOT on the east side of Des Moines in Altoona. He was unhappy with the citation he was receiving so he ripped it up and ran to his truck leading them on a chase that went 10-15 miles. I've never understood the purpose of fleeing in any vehicle. Sure, in a car you may get away today but eventually you will get caught and the consequences will be far greater. In a truck it's far more difficult to outrun them and even harder to hide a vehicle that size.
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The report said meth was found in his truck and I assume the driver was high on meth. I think someone called him in for erratic driving and he wouldn’t have wanted to get stopped and searched. Obviously, anyone who messes with drugs is an irrational person to begin with.
If I can figure out how to post a hyperlink, the news had quite a sensational video of the actual chase. A miracle no one was maimed or killed.
Of course it started with "a Florida man....."
